I recently graduated with a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida, where my research interests developed at the intersection of polymer chemistry, biomaterials, and tissue engineering. My undergraduate research experiences ultimately shaped my aspirations toward developing biomaterials for tissue engineering and adjacent biomedical applications. With a natural curiosity for exploring the unknown and a creative approach to problem-solving, I gravitated toward research and development, which has motivated me to pursue my M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering at Tel Aviv University.
I was drawn to the Maoz Lab for the opportunity to broaden my research experience and skill set as an engineer in the biomedical field, coming from a background focused on the materials side of biomedical research. Dr. Maoz’s diverse research accomplishments make his lab an exciting environment to grow as a researcher while exploring innovative directions in the field.
I will be working within the Skin Project using Nir Melnikov’s synthetic skin model and am interested in potentially exploring scarring behavior and the key factors influencing scar geometry and progression, with the goal of identifying ways to mitigate abnormal scar formation.
After completing my master’s, I am leaning toward a career in developing artificial organs through tissue engineering, with the goal of reducing the dependence on donor organs for transplantation.
