Neta Shvil

Doctoral Student

Born and raised in Be'er Sheva ,Israel.

Served three years in the Israeli Defense Force ( IDF) as an Officer serving in the home front command.
BSc in Medical Laboratory Science from Ben Gurion University- Summa Cum Laude.
MSc in Medical Science at Physiology and cell Biology Department from Ben Gurion University. The main focus of the research in my Masters lab is on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that lead to the onset and progression of neurodegenerative diseases with special emphasis on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ( ALS).
After graduating, worked for one and a half years as a research assistant at TargetGene Biotechnologies LTD. TargetGene's R& D department is centered around creating efficient and supremely specific DNA editing solutions in living organisms.

I've join Ben's lab because its innovative and young and will allow me to shape the face of future medicine.

My project title is: "creating an odor biosensor – a robot that can smell and trace the source of a smell" and I'm really excited about it.

After graduating I will pursue a post doctoral Position abroad, preferably a sunny location (San Diego for instance).
After the post-doc I’m planning to return to Israel and open my own lab.

After lab hours I like to do all kinds of sports but mainly I like to fly on the Flying Trapeze.
