Michal Matzlavi

Bachelor Student

I am a biomedical engineering and neuroscience student interested in the fields of tissue engineering and deep learning. I previously studied biomedical engineering at UBC (Vancouver, Canada) and worked in the Diagnostics Division of Roche Pharmaceuticals.

I chose this lab because of its innovative work in developing next-generation Organ-on-a-Chip systems, which align closely with my interests in tissue engineering and neuroscience. The idea of using micro-engineering to better mimic real physiology and disease is exciting to me, especially since it goes beyond what traditional cell culture can do.

My project is "Identifying the Effect of Multiple Tissue Interactions on Neuronal Tissues". The goal is analysis and characterization of excitable cells.

I am contemplating the possibility of either pursuing a master’s degree or entering the industry. I hope to continue working in the field of advanced tissue engineering regardless.

I’m good with languages and currently learning Japanese, in which I have an intermediate level of proficiency.
