Bachelor Student
3rd-year dual B.Sc. Biomedical engineering and B.Sc. Biology student at Sagol School of Neuroscience, Tel Aviv University.
As someone studying in a program that combines three different fields, I enjoy expanding my horizons and creating meaningful integrations between disciplines.
When I was introduced to Ben’s lab, I realized that Ben is the kind of person who is not afraid to combine different disciplines in ways that may seem unusual or even “crazy” to others.
I aspire to integrate different fields with biomedical engineering, and as a young student, Ben’s lab is the perfect place for me to begin my academic journey.
The overall goal of the project I am taking part in is to build a compact device that creates a sensory bypass from the fingers to a designated area on the forearm, for patients who have lost tactile sensation in the palm and fingers of the hand. When touch or temperature is detected, the patient receives stimulation that they can learn to interpret as hand sensation after a short and intuitive learning process. My personal goal in this project is to develop an interface that enables connection to the device, and then use this interface to examine the optimal parameters for calibrating and adjusting the device, so that the patient can interpret the signals as hand sensations in the most effective way.
After completing my project in Ben’s lab, I am interested in pursuing a master’s degree in biomedical engineering, life sciences, or marine sciences.
My aspiration is to one day be able to create a strong integration between marine sciences, since I have a deep connection to and strong interest in the ocean, and biomedical engineering.
In my free time, I mainly enjoy spending time by the sea, surfing, or freediving. I also love running and traveling in Israel and around the world.
